5 Features of Apple's First Computer Processor Silicon

Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, at the recent WWDC20 event, a historic day Stating that he experienced that Mac computers are no longer available from Apple. own computer processor Apple announced that Silicon will be used. Apple, which used PowerPC processors in the early days, later made an agreement with Intel, but now it is switching to processors designed and produced by itself, just like in the iPhone.

Performance and efficiency to the highest level Apple, which wants to release in two years all Mac computers Apple Silicone He said he would switch to his processor. We are here for you in the world of technology loud We have compiled all the remarkable features about Apple Silicon. If you wish, you can read another article about Apple Silicon that we published right after the event, here.

What is Apple Silicon?

Apple Silicon is now the name of the processor that will be used in computers produced by Apple. Apple Silicon, which will have ARM architecture, will be available to its users with the DRAM it contains. ultimate gaming performance will also present. According to Apple, despite Silicon's high performance, electricity consumption will be kept to a minimum.

In fact, Apple brings the serious experience it has gained with the A series mobile processors used in iPhones and iPads to the computer world. Apple, which has been working with Intel on Mac computers and Macbooks since 2006, has improved the compatibility between the hardware. increase and from devices higher performance to get Apple SiliconeHe brought to life.

Apple Silicon features:

• New ecosystem with Apple Silicon
• Exclusive Apple Silicon with Mac platform computer
• Apps compatible with Apple Silicon
• Applications that support the processor in the new operating system Big Sur
• Apps will be compatible on iPhone, iPad and Apple Silicon simultaneously

Apple, for now, about its new processor Silicon number of cores, virtual cores did not share detailed technical information regarding the chip structure. Probably Silicon's these details in the coming months We will see it in the new Mac models that are likely to be introduced.

New ecosystem with Apple Silicon

Apple started producing its own processors for iPhones and iPads for the first time. The biggest reason for this was that Intel avoided producing processors specifically for Apple's phones. Providing maximum performance and efficiency with the successful processor sets they have produced for years, Apple Stating that they will carry the same quality to Mac computersHe stated that the architecture of their new processors will be extremely successful.

In order to improve the performance of its processors, Apple artificial intelligence learning for Neural Design And encryption for Secure Enclave He said they would use it. Apple SiliconeThanks to its artificial intelligence learning, image from the camera and sound from the microphone processing will have the feature.

Apple Silicon architecture specific to macOS:

Apple's iPhone and iPad Although the chipsets it produces for its devices extremely successful Even though the company will not transfer its mobile processors directly to its computers. So, in a way, Apple is developing a processor specific to its own computers and its own operating system, MacOS.

Apps compatible with Apple Silicon

With the new processor it has released, Apple has eliminated the concerns in users' minds and installed all applications in a very short time. Apple Silicone He stated that it would be made compatible with For Apple, app owners and developers Developer Transition Kit designed a conversion kit called.

Thanks to this kit, which can be rented for $ 500, developers can make their applications compatible with macOS and Apple Silicon. Not only limited to the kit, Apple allows developers to attend virtual sessions and With Apple Developer engineers It also offers opportunities to discuss their problems.

Applications that support the processor in macOS Big Sur

As another major innovation at the event, Apple also introduced its new operating system, macOS Big Sur, to be used on its Mac platforms. Applications within this operating system transition to new ecosystem There are applications called Rosetta 2, Universal 2 and Virtualization that can help.

Rosetta 2

The first Rosetta released by Apple, PowerPC processors It allowed it to run on Mac platforms. Rosetta 2 has a completely new architecture. Apple Silicone Its processors will also run on Mac platforms. Rosetta 2 only supports applications in download time by making it compatible with the system very fast response will allow it to give.

Universal 2

Thanks to this application, developers can Macs with both Intel and Apple Silicon compatible They will be able to develop software. Third-party developers such as Microsoft and Adobe have already started working to make their applications compatible with the new chipset. In the demo presented at the event, the device working with the new chipset, It has 4K quality It has been shown that you can easily navigate other applications while editing a video.

virtualization

Virtualization software will work on Macs with Apple Silicon, but no information was given at the event about how it will work and what features it will have. Although Apple's computers Allows the use of Linux parallels Although it mentions features such as, there is no good news yet for users who want to use Windows on their Mac computers.

Apple to switch to Silicon docker He also stated at the event that it can be used in applications such as and that developers can fully benefit from this software.

All apps will be compatible on iPhone, iPad and Apple Silicon simultaneously:

Any application produced within the Apple ecosystem will also be compatible with Apple Silicon. To give an example, Apple Watch An application developed specifically for Apple Silicon-based Macs is also available. can be easily optimized. This feature is for both software developers and users. a big advantage It looks like it will happen.

Apple had previously launched a project called Project Catalyst to optimize applications, but the issue was Apple's internally produced and hardware that is 100% compatible with the ecosystem As for this, this whole process promises to be much easier.

Macs with Intel processors will not be left out of the woods:

After the introduction of the new processor Apple Silicon, Mac users old system He's already starting to worry about it. Before computers with Apple Silicon are available for sale, users are wondering what will happen to their old Macs. a decrease in their performance He started asking questions about whether he would live or not.

Tim Cook gave a comforting answer to these questions at the event, saying that macOs for many years announced that it will continue to be supported. Cook also noted that apps developed for Apple Silicon will also be available on macOS. at the same performance He said he could use it.

When will Apple Silicon be released?

Apple announced that computers with new processors before 2020 ends Although it promised it would be available for sale, it chose not to provide further details. According to rumors, first 12 inch MacBook And 13 inch Macbook ProIt will be completely renewed and have the new Apple Silicon processor with ARM architecture. These devices are expected to be available for sale in the last quarter of 2020.
