Statement from Google Regarding the Claims of Establishing a Company in Turkey

In our news yesterday, we shared with you a claim that Google decided to establish a company in Turkey for all its operations. This claim, put forward by entrepreneur and writer Fatih Güner, created great excitement in our country in a short time. A statement came from Google regarding this operation, which is thought to be related to the social media regulation adopted in July. 

According to the statement requested by Turkish Internet from Google, the giant company clarified the issue that is very trending on social media.

“As Google Advertising and Marketing Ltd. Co. ('Google Advertising'), established in Istanbul since 2006, we have been working on the promotion and marketing in Turkey of the services provided by Google companies located abroad.

The news in the media today that Google has decided to change its operations in Turkey due to the current amendments to the Law No. 5651 on the Regulation of Publications Made on the Internet and Combating Crimes Committed through These Publications does not reflect the truth.

The news in question is based on the misunderstanding and spread of some structural changes that Google plans to make in 2021 regarding the provision of advertising services. The issue has nothing to do with the amendments made to Law No. 5651 and social media regulations.”
