In addition, this innovative, R&D-intensive and high-added-value investment, which is prepared for the localization of our defense industry sector, will primarily enable technology transfer to our country regarding battery design, recipe and production methodology, and to create our own battery technology within the country by training R&D personnel.”

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, ASPİLSAN Chairman of the Board of Directors İsmail Hakkı Doğankaya said that the company has approximately 300 types of battery systems and stating that 20 types of battery systems will be produced, “As a result of intensive studies, interviews and analyses, it was decided to start the production of cylindrical batteries, which are the most widely used and have the largest market share, with the capacity to produce 21 million units per year in nickel magnesium cobalt base structure, which will have a volume of 47 billion dollars with a 40 percent market share in the world in the 2030s. Within the scope of the 12-year road map it has prepared, ASPİLSAN Energy has planned to design and produce prismatic and lithium ion batteries, as well as all kinds of vehicle batteries, fuel cells, super capacitors, solid electrolytes, liquid hydrogen and metal anodes, in addition to lithium-ion cylindrical batteries that will be needed by the mobile vehicles and systems used by our defense and industry, with original, local and national coordinated efforts." he said. 

The factory will be established on an area of ​​25 thousand square meters.

While it was announced that the work on the machinery infrastructure to be procured from abroad for the lithium ion battery facility, which is planned to be completed in approximately 1 year, has reached the final stage, the facility will be located in Mimarsinan Organized Industrial Zone. 25 thousand square meters He said that the facility, which will operate in a closed area, will include battery production, battery packaging, R&D center, administrative and social facilities.
