China Will Start a Very Serious Investigation About Google

Alphabet Inc, the US-based technology giant of which Google is one of the largest parts, has been in trouble with competition lawsuits for a long time. The world's most used operating system Android The allegations that it creates "unfair competition" conditions and puts pressure on phone manufacturers form the basis of all these cases.

It is thought that since the company offers its own applications such as Gmail, YouTube and Play Store pre-installed on Android devices, it leaves consumers without a choice, and other companies are also negatively affected by this situation. Google, which was fined $5.1 billion in Europe due to unfair competition in 2018, went through a similar process in Turkey in December 2019. In fact, Google started to receive daily fines for the same reason in Turkey, and the Competition Authority imposed a fine of 98 million TL in February.  Now a similar, but much larger-scale investigation is beginning in China.

Taking action with the suggestion made by Huawei in 2019, the Chinese State Council began investigation work:

According to Reuters, the biggest factor in the investigation, the outcome of which will be finalized in October, will be the relations between the USA and China. If you remember, there is a long-standing conflict between the two countries. trade wars, also spread to the technology world, and the USA decided not to use Huawei products and services and 5G technologies throughout the country. With the Google investigation, now China's a similar move It can be said that it was prepared.

In particular, the harsh sanctions imposed by US President Trump against Chinese technology companies due to privacy concerns will have an important place in the investigation. Other than Huawei TikTokChina-based owner of ByteDance, processor manufacturer SMIC is among the companies globally damaged by US sanctions.

China's investigation could start a new era in trade wars:

Acting under the control of the US government in trade wars, Google decided not to offer its own applications and services to Huawei devices. After this stage, Huawei started working on its own mobile service, HMS, and started working on a new generation operating system called HarmonyOS to compete with Google.

The most important detail that strengthens China's hand in this investigation is that Huawei became a victim when Google support was cut off. Although the company continued to work on its own ecosystems, it began to experience sustainability problems without Google's applications used by billions of people.
